She has more than 12 years of experience providing economic and financial analysis in complex commercial disputes, international arbitration and regulatory matters. Her work focuses on the quantification of damages, business and shareholder valuation, lost profits, solvency analysis and competition-related matters.
Tarini has worked on disputes and investigations across a range of industries, including energy, infrastructure, financial services, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing and consumer products. Her experience includes investor-state and commercial arbitration, shareholder disputes, fraud investigations and competition matters. She has also served as part of a monitoring agency appointed by the Competition Commission of India and has supported investigations involving the U.S. Department of Justice.
- Acted as an expert in eight arbitration and litigation matters involving disputes between a DIY manufacturer and various property owners over rental fees, including providing oral expert testimony. Assessed whether market conditions had changed sufficiently to warrant a review of rent indexation to inflation.
- Assisted in a multibillion-dollar case involving alleged fraudulent trading and accounting practices in the oil trading sector on behalf of the respondent, assessing the solvency and debt levels of an oil trading company under administration at different points in time.
- Assisted in preparing an expert report in an investor-state dispute concerning alleged anticompetitive pricing and supply in the North African cement sector. The dispute concerns a USD 1 billion investment by a listed European construction materials company allegedly affected by government and military actions.
- Assisted in preparing an expert report concerning damages, including lost profits, increased costs and COVID-related reduction in value, arising from alleged breaches of a port development and operating agreement between a large listed public company in India and the state government and related entities in an ad hoc arbitration.
- Assisted in preparing an expert report on behalf of a public-private airport, assessing the impact of approximately USD 500 million in excess annual fees allegedly paid as a result of an incorrect contract interpretation.
- Served as part of the Monitoring Agency appointed by the Competition Commission of India to oversee the divestment of specified brands and competition compliance by two multinational pharmaceutical companies entering into a merger. This was the first time an external firm was appointed as a monitoring agency.
- Assisted a multinational company in responding to an FCPA investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice, conducting a large-scale accounting investigation and presenting findings to the DOJ.
