
Steve Dimakos is a Managing Director at Delta Consulting Group, where he leads the firm’s Insurance & Recovery practice and oversees a global portfolio of property loss and business interruption engagements. A trusted advisor to Fortune 500 corporations, real estate groups and commercial operators, Steve brings more than four decades of specialized experience in property claims strategy, insurance policy interpretation and disaster recovery consulting.
Since beginning his career, Steve has been dedicated to helping policyholders navigate complex loss events and insurance disputes with clarity and confidence. He has prepared and certified major property insurance claims across multiple jurisdictions, testified as an expert in matters involving property damage and business interruption, and developed strategies that have led to the successful resolution of hundreds of high-value claims worldwide. His expertise spans numerous sectors, including manufacturing, aviation, healthcare, real estate, retail and cyber liability, where he has helped clients quantify losses, assess coverage and accelerate recovery following catastrophic events.
Steve’s approach emphasizes early engagement and proactive strategy, from developing preliminary loss estimates to guide reserve decisions to conducting detailed insurance policy analyses that define coverage and entitlement. He has also provided leadership in disaster preparedness and recovery planning, drawing on extensive experience with large-scale loss events such as Hurricane Hugo, the Midwest floods and Hurricanes Katrina and Ivan, among others.
Prior to joining Delta, Steve was the Managing Director and practice lead at BDO USA, and previously served as Principal at Quantum Global Advisors for more than 35 years, where he helped build and lead a nationally recognized property loss practice. His work has earned him long-standing relationships with some of the world’s largest insurers, brokers and insured entities.
A frequent speaker and educator in the field, Steve has been featured at leading industry conferences, including the Assurex Global Loss Control & Claims Meeting. He is an active member of the Risk and Insurance Management Society (RIMS) and the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA), reflecting his deep engagement with the broader risk and insurance community.
